AboutBook: “Cadillac on the Bowery chronicles the exceptional metamorphosis of Mike Domino, a successful self-made businessman who, in his forties, finally discovered what was most important in life. He realized that he had the soul of a poet as he traversed the world, snapping photos and chronicling the triumphs and travails of a wide array of people. Mike's inquisitive nature, coupled with his soulful inclinations, is evident on every page. His words and his observations are as deeply gratifying as his photos are mesmerizing and provocative.” Robet Mladinich “The poems in this collection are easy on the eyes. After half a lifetime in the gritty, barter and bluff, penny-profit-on-a-ton world of scrap plastic trading, Mike knows how to focus on the essential ingredient of what's in front of him. And he knows how to transform it into something that he can put in his pocket (or his Blackberry). He writes with the same directness and intensity that he brings to everything that he does. As a trader of plastic, he's made a reputation of being true to his word. As a poet this trait takes on new meaning.” Michael Primont About the Author: Michael Domino is a compassionate man and poet. He hones in on a subject, grabs hold of it and doesn't let go. He sniffs around the urban world and catches it when nobody else is looking and then he gives his all, trying to make us see deeply into the human scene, the human situation, the human condition. Across the river from the Scioto Mile, Franklinton is hoping that it too will benefit from the $44 million Downtown park.
Mayor Michael B. Coleman says the Scioto Mile could be a catalyst for Franklinton, which has long been a symbol of urban decay but is showing tentative signs of rebirth.
"It's a domino effect. Scioto Mile will help east Franklinton," Coleman said.
"It certainly helps when you have something as wonderful as this right across the river."
He and others say the park's fountains, restaurant and events could be a draw for the very sort of people they hope will help rebuild Franklinton: the city's burgeoning creative class. They see artists, designers, performers, architects and others being drawn to new live-work space in the neighborhood.

Driver hits man, then crashes bank
An 84-year-old woman drove onto a sidewalk Friday and hit a pedestrian in front of the First Hawaiian Bank in Liliha, police said.
The woman was leaving the Liliha Square Shopping Center's parking lot at about 11:30 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed Liliha Street and drove onto the sidewalk, hitting a man, police said. The car stopped on the stairs of the bank at 1420 Liliha St.
Paramedics took the man, 55, to the hospital in serious condition, an Emergency Medical Services spokeswoman said. The driver, who had minor injuries, was also taken to the hospital.
