New Cumberland man writes family history

NEW CUMBERLAND - During his days as a student, an athlete, a soldier, then a teacher and coach, John Kuzio kept busy.

Decades later, little has changed.

Kuzio, now 91, still serves as an altar boy at Immaculate Conception Church in New Cumberland. Once he began woodworking in his retirement, his wife, Blanche, dubbed him "The Wood Butcher." He still works on various projects, from yard ornaments to wall plaques.

During recent routine visits to his physician and cardiologist, he was recently told he is in good health and follow-up appointments were not needed for several months. The last time he visited his optometrist, he was told he had no sign of glaucoma or cataracts. The doctor said people in their early 60s generally develop one or both of the eye diseases.
